Navy Blue & Newlyweds

In March I had the pleasure of baking for my sister's wedding. She was probably the easiest person ever to bake for (perhaps because she is my sis and because she's been eating things I've made since we were kids... admittedly probably some better than others!) She was so relaxed and laid back. She had a few ideas but mostly let me run with it (I did get confirmation from her about what I was planning, I'm not that crazy to anger a bride!)

She requested cookies and cupcakes. Fortunately the cookies freeze awesome, so I was able to bake and decorate the 180 cookies ahead of time and pop them in the freezer to later concentrate on the cupcakes. The navy royal icing tinted great, no after taste that sometimes quite a bit of food coloring can make.
Navy, light blue, white... yellow flower accents. Love!

I just love the "dot" accents around the perimeter of the designs.

Cookies drying everywhere awaiting wrapping!

We found these awesome wrappers on Amazon that matched the colors and vibe of the wedding perfectly.

Drop the cupcake in the decorative wrap before frosting!

My sister is not a huge fan of frosting, say what?! I love frosting, so do my kids... they typically just lick the frosting off and leave the cake! Because of that I piped a classy rose swirl in a deeper blue; the rose doesn't get too high with frosting, perfect for cake lovers, not frosting lovers! And a smaller swirl of white topped with a piped chocolate leaf. I piped lots of extra chocolate leaves in the event that any broke while placing them atop the cupcakes.

The back of my car loaded up and headed up to the reception location to set up.

Cupcakes and cookies, oh my!

Love the credit that my sis set up for me ;)

Love that buttercream!

120 cupcakes and 180 cookies all set up and ready for wedding guests.

The ceremony was beautiful and the reception a blast! Thanks for having me bake for your wedding... congratulations to the newlyweds!
